The author of this blog is Michael Z. Newman, assistant professor in the Dept. of Journalism, Advertising, and Media Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I wrote of Indie: An American Film Culture (Columbia UP, 2011) and co-wrote Legitimating Television: Media Convergence and Cultural Status (Routledge, 2012).
